Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund®

A hand up, not a handout

The Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund® (JCCF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that lends a helping hand to professional rodeo athletes and their families in the event of serious injuries resulting from rodeo activities. The JCCF provides need-based financial assistance when the inevitable serious injury interferes with the careers of those who have dedicated their lives to the sport.

The JCCF is an Official Charity of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and boasts approximately $9.5 million in need-based financial assistance since its start more than 35 years ago.

Unique among today’s numerous charitable organizations, the JCCF dedicates 100% of all contributions received for disbursement to eligible applicants. This uncommon practice for a charitable organization is made possible by the joint commitment of Justin and The PRCA to underwrite all operational costs.

Assisting Rodeo Athletes Since 1981

In 1980, Dr. J. Pat Evans and Don Andrews developed the concept of a mobile sports medicine system that would provide medical care to professional rodeo athletes at arenas where they compete across the country. The concept was first introduced at the 1980 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City, OK.

Recognizing the need and value a sports medicine program could provide its membership, the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) leadership struck out to find a sponsor in January of 1981. Knowing of John Justin Jr.’s, passion for the sport of pro rodeo and his dedication and commitment to the cowboys and cowgirls who wore his boots, the search was short-lived. Mr. Justin bought into the concept and made an initial commitment to underwrite the program at some eleven PRCA rodeos that first year.

Hunting With Soldiers

Established in 2007

Hunting with Soldiers was created in 2007 with the sole purpose of getting combat veterans of all wars, and of all branches of the military, into the great outdoors to give them the healing from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that only Mother Nature can provide. They do not require any of the combat veterans to have been injured in combat. PTSD is the unseen injury.

Hunting with Soldiers does this by providing hunting and fishing adventures at no cost to combat veterans. They only have to get to the location and everything, including accommodations, food, etc., is provided by Hunting with Soldiers. Additionally, they provide hunting adventures for the children of combat veterans. Since their goal is for the healing of PTSD, what better way to heal than for the combat Veteran to get out into the outdoors with their son or daughter.
