Makers - Aaron Heizer
Aaron is the owner of a leathercraft supply store in Elm Mott, Texas. He, his wife Janie Sue and their very talented crew work diligently to provide their customers with tools, materials, advice and instructions. Aaron loves to create new things, always striving to have new projects that can be taught through his YouTube Channel or in classes held throughout the year. Aaron’s passion is to teach and inspire other leatherworkers, as well as introducing the craft to the new and curious. His company, Maker’s Leather Supply supports many school and youth programs to inspire tomorrow’s generation to keep leather-craft alive.
Aaron was raised in Central Texas, upon completion of high school and some college, he packed his bags and joined the Army’s Military Police Corps hoping to see the world. He got exactly what he needed from the Army, a worldly adventure that took him across the globe from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to Baghdad, Iraq (twice). He always loved working with his hands and taught himself to do leatherwork so that he could make projects for a little extra “Beer and Harley” money. Aaron found that he had a knack for hand tooling and constructing items, originally making holsters, wallets, and belts. Upon his retirement from the Army in 2014, he moved to the Waco area in Texas with his wife and son, Tanner. As their business has grown, Aaron has become well known in the leather industry and folks have stopped in their store from all over the world to have a chat, take some pictures, and fill their vehicle with leather and supplies.
