i bought a pair of these boots and they smell like a horse or something! I doesnt smell very good at all! What can i do to make the smell go away?

I just was given a pair of these boots for my son and can't figure out what "Crazy Cow" means. Are these leather boots? Can they be cleaned or rubbed with polish or oil? The finish is different from other Ropers I've had.

the shoe widths from narrow to wide go B,C,D,E,EE,EEE so the higher the letter the wider it is
